tires collected to date

The SSTC's program collects and handles over 750,000 whole tires annually. This translates to over 45 million pounds of scrap tire material that is recycled in Saskatchewan by two local recycling companies. Both companies are Saskatchewan owned and operated and have been handling our tire waste since the inception of the program.

Statistically, about 45% of the tire waste generated in Saskatchewan is recycled into reusable products, primarily crumb rubber, and are used to create a variety of products, such as surfacing for walkways, playground material, and highway asphalt. Crumb rubber is also used to make products such as paving stones, roofing material, and parking curbs.
